* A sculpture has to be made out of clay. This can be done, like David, by carving the piece out of the clay. Or it can be done, like pottery, where the clay built up and formed. Each sculptor creates work that is unique. The clay sculpture is sent to the foundry so that an exact replica can be made in bronze.

    * The first thing they do at the foundry is make a mold of the outside of the sculpture. This is done by applying multiple layers of liquid rubber over the clay which creates a flexible mold. The rubber is then coated in liquid fiberglass, which will harden into a supportive shell.

    * Once the fiberglass hardens, it is carefully removed from the sculpture, usually in two or four main pieces. The fiberglass mold is then put back together and turned upside down. So, you think, simple, just fill with molten bronze and you’re done. But bronze is hot, so a mold out of a different material is needed. To do this, you start by filling the fiber glass mold with melted wax. This is called wax casting.

    * The next step is gating. The fiberglass and rubber molds are gently removed from the wax mold, leaving an exact wax replica of the clay sculpture. Wax rods, called gates, are attached to the sculpture. These gates will create channels in the final mold, which allows for the molten bronze to be poured into the mold.

    * The wax replica is then dipped into a vat of ceramic slurry. As the vat vibrates, there is a build up of ceramic that will be the final mold for the bronze. So, why don’t we just dip the original clay sculpture in the ceramic slurry? One, because the original needs to be handled very carefully, you do not want it damaged. If something happens to the wax mold, you can go back to the original and start again. Second, the channels need to be created for pouring the bronze into the mold.

    * The burnout step is removing the wax from the mold. Since you want the mold to have a bottom, you leave the bottom of the mold in tact and just expose the ends of the gate channels. When the ceramic mold is placed into a kiln to cure, the wax melts and runs out of the channels, this leaves the inside hollow, ready for the bronze.

    * Bronze pellets are melted at 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The molten bronze is poured into the ceramic mold.
* Once the bronze cools, the ceramic shell is broken and the gates are sawn off.

    * The sculpture is then ready for the finish work. The gate stubs are removed along with any other casting marks. If desired, a patina is applied to color the bronze. A final transparent coat of wax is then applied to protect the finished sculpture.

For an original piece of art with a limited number of pieces, the process is repeated for each individual piece. The specific number of the piece, such as 5/25 (meaning the 5th piece made out of a limited edition total of 25), is often etched into the wax before it is dipped. That way the number will appear on the bottom of the finished bronze.

So the next time you see a bronze sculpture, you can appreciate it more because you know how much work went into creating that wonderful piece of art. It took a lot of time, patience and love.

Collecting vintage posters has become very popular, and the reason for this is because there are only a very few genuine vintage posters available in today’s market. Many vintage posters come with a very expensive price tag while others you can find at a reasonably low price, depending on popularity and the genre. Here are some things that may help you when you begin collecting vintage poster art. Modernism, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Symbolism are examples of period art. Posters also come is various sizes, designs and subject matter. There are also many different types of posters such as western genre posters, vintage movie posters, military posters, advertisements and political posters. The list goes on and on but choose what interests you the most and enjoy what you are doing.

When collecting vintage posters you will find that some are more collectible than others. World War II posters and autographed posters are rare finds and also more expensive. If you are purchasing an autographed poster, make sure the autograph is authentic, if it is authentic the owner will generally offer a certificate of authenticity with your purchase. Whether you are collecting for fun or because you have a passion for a specific period or subject, collecting vintage art is not only extremely interesting but can be profitable too. When looking to purchase your vintage poster you will want to make sure that it is not a reproduction and that it is genuine original and authentic, what condition the poster is in (mint, near mint, new, slightly used, etc. You will also want to know if the poster has undergone any kink restoration and how the poster has been stored and preserved up until now.

If you are interested in history, political posters are rare and highly prized, not just for the artistry of the poster but because of the place it holds in our history. Vintage horror posters are also highly prized and much sought after, such as The Bride of Frankenstein (which is to be auctioned off in November 2010 by Heritage Auctions) There are many collectors around the world that will pay a very high price for one of these rare vintage posters. Today vintage poster collecting has become big business. Begin your collection with what you are interested in, be it films, movies, whatever pleases you and your finances.

Direct carving method emphasizes the role of work and materials when finished. Unlike traditional methods sculpture, are highly and plan to use templates and intermediate models or maquettes, the direct method involves a more intuitive approach, in which the sculptor Other topics and carves observations coordinated with the material, thus allowing the natural qualities and the nature of the stone is revealed.

When I began creating abstract sculpture, I intuitively worked in the Direct Method, long before I knew this technique existed. For me, the art of carving stone into sculpture is a harmonizing of the discipline of my traditional carving training coupled with his intuitive style of sculpting. The artist begins the creative process by selecting a block or boulder that exhibits an individuality of color, texture or shape. Without a premeditated design in mind, I then explore the pre-existing qualities which are present in the stone and looks for the inherent design. Using a variety of handmade chisels and rasps, as well as several power tools equipped with diamond blades, I begin the reductive process of subtracting material and exaggerating and amplifying the natural characteristics of the stone.

The spontaneous process of the Direct Method allows for new perspectives and ideas to unfold unexpectedly. The emerging forms begin to influence the surrounding space which helps dictate what the artist should do next. I view this as an opportunity for the sculpture to begin to create itself, recognizing that the steps needed to complete the piece become more obvious. I am often pleasantly surprised by the results of this unorchestrated approach.

Once the overall design has been established, the piece moves through increasing levels of refinement. Surface textures can be chiseled for a rough look, honed and smoothed with sandpaper, or brought to a high luster with diamond polishing pads. Once again, the unique characteristics of the stone can help determine which finish is most appropriate. I then select a complementary stone and fashion it into a base for the sculpture. Both pieces are then carefully drilled and bolted together, and the sculpture is thoroughly cleaned and given a coating of sealer to protect it from the elements.

By using the direct method of carving into my work, I seek to combine innovation with the documents show the spirit, with a stone sculpture made aware of the natural beauty and nature property from within. Stone art sculptures are beautiful symbols of structured art works. Stones or rocks united in the construction of an artwork are truly a unique artwork to be discovered.

The visual arts encompass things like sculpture, painting and so on. The basis of visual arts is that of productions meant to entertain through the eyes without use of song, speech or writing. The artist is trying to make a point by the concept he or she has put together without having to speak about the topic. So in truth the artist is telling a story by using the visual images and how they transform into words in our brain. The feelings aroused when a person sees a particular piece of art is the idea behind visual art.

Throughout the history of the world there has been visual art in one form or another. Even the early days of man have shown us that we were interested in communicating with one another through art. Cave drawings depict hunts and so on that we as the modern day people attempt to interpret to learn more about the times. Art was thought to be the only form of communication that was available making it more appealing to the other people alive at the time.

When you move forward through history you see that visual art has played a major role in the culture of the countries around the world. This comes on the heels of the fact that many artists never realized any kind of fame or fortune during their lifetime as their work did not become appreciated until centuries later.

Case and point of this would be Vincent Van Gough. He was plagued by his own insecurity and addictions. His work was outside of the norm and hence it was not accepted by the art community of his time. Van Gough would spend his relatively short life painting but never selling. Today there is nothing shy of an extreme demand for his work. Examples of Van Gough’s paintings sell in the millions of dollar range and are highly sought after by serious art collectors.

The other side of the coin would be those artists that found fame and fortune during their life time and still have a huge following to this day. Leonardo Da Vinci is a prime example. Da Vinci was a highly popular painter and sculpture in his time and he had the attention of the royal family which gave him carte blanche on his work.

Visual arts make up a large portion of the artistic world and provide solace for those with tormented souls. All one has to do is visit an art gallery and learn to understand the way that artists view the world and interpret it for us.

In every home, you would notice something nice. It does not matter whether it is a painting, sculpture or décor. Homeowners, especially those with children, want to make their house a special one because this is where the kids will grow up. Putting some wall art sculpture is one thing most people consider nowadays. At least they can maximize the space on top of the walls that they could not reach.

People just love to have something different in their house. They would even go great lengths just for them to acquire or have that one thing that they like especially if it is personalized. The nice thing about custom-made items is that you have the assurance that you are the only one who has it. You can put your face or picture in these things for others to see that this is really yours. There are times wherein you have to shed out quite a fortune because of the customization. It seems that people do not care about the money involved. What they are more concerned about is the time they will be able to get their personalized item.

For people who love sculpture and love to personalize the things inside their home, they can always ask someone to help them out in thewall art sculpture that they want. They can have their face in the sculpture or their body. They can even have their picture imposed here. Even a family portrait with a little twist is one thing that you can do. Anything related to your family or what you want can become a sculpture.

Wall art sculpture is one of the many things that you can do to have a more personalized home. Even though the sculpture is quite expensive, you know that every cent is worth it because this is what you want. In addition, you know that you are the only one who has such sculpture, which makes it priceless. The important thing here is that you got what you want. For a few minutes, just try to enjoy the beauty that is before you. Do not try to think about the effort and money spent in order for you to have this one. You know that everything is all worth it because you see that others admire the sculpture too and plan to have their own version of it. Be happy and contented with these things while it lasts.

The concept of Earth Day celebration started in Wisconsin more than four decades ago. It was intended to raise national awareness on environmental preservation and conservation. Today, it is celebrated for a lot of reasons. There are practically a number of reasons that are coupled with personal views and emotions on the celebration of Earth Day. These varied emotions can be manifested on the manner of celebrating Earth Day. Basically the best way of sharing one’s emotions and personal views on Earth Day celebration would be in the form of graphics or illustrations. Pictures or graphics can surprisingly convey a deeper message than words can. Therefore the choice of the perfect graphics or pictures that would appropriately describe one’s emotions or views is very crucial. These graphics and pictures are more popularly known in the web as clip arts. These are pre-made images or illustrations that one can easily use for any application.

Underwater Scene with a Sick Fish and Oil Canclip art shows an underwater scene with a sick fish and oil can near it. This graphics shows that the oils that are split on the waters are causing the fishes to become sick and eventually die. If we don’t stop this practice, then eventually there would be no more fishes left in the sea. Earth Day Tree graphics shows a picture of the globe with a single full grown tree growing on its top. This conveys the message that in order to preserve the world, people should also preserve the trees. People can basically stop cutting trees, or they can start planting trees. The message that is sent in this clip art has something to do with forest preservation.

Smiling World clip art is one of the most popular in the web. This might be because more and more people are becoming optimistic about the current environmental conditions, or it might be because more and more people are trying to deny reality. This graphics shows a world that is smiling and is therefore happy. This clip art can be both genuine and sarcastic at the same time. Torn World clip art illustrates an image of the world that is torn into pieces. This is a rather highly emotional clip art, as this conveys a message that the world is tearing apart beyond repair. This can either boost awareness and realization, or exude failure and hopelessness.

The idea for using vampires as characters in the literary works of the twentieth century was taken from the famous Dracula by Bram Stoker. The novel was then adapted into cinema which was an emerging medium during that time period. Stoker’s work, however, was not restricted to the horror and Gothic novels with the description of ghastly deaths and incidents dealing with the dark. The twin works of Gustave Le Rogue, published in 1908 and 1909 gave an introduction to science fiction and idea of life on other planets. He depicted creatures with wings and blood sucking fangs living on Mars. This was the first time that the trait of wings was given to vampires and from this trait came the connection of vampires and bats.

The first movie that featured vampires was the one that adapted Dracula into cinema. After that, vampires got more spotlight in horror movies that had gothic themes. Science fiction that included vampires was fairly used in cinema. In 2207, Richard Matheson’s movie, I am Legend was released and it showed nocturnal creatures surviving on the blood of live human beings. This movie also depicted that Vampirism is a result of the wrong doings of human beings and it also shows that developing a cure for it is possible.

There was a great amount of literary work on Vampires in the later half of the twentieth century. Between 1966 and 1971, Barnabas Collins Series, a work by Marilyn Ross was released which became the first to use vampires in literary works in the forms of sequels and series rather than singular novels. Another series called Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice followed it. Literary works in the form of series that had become common in this period continue to be written even to this date as mega series.

A lot of people become very predictable when it comes to managing a small business. They make decisions based on what different books say and therefore do the same things over and over again. However, you have to realize that management and managing business in particular isn’t actually an exact science. You can’t predict results exactly. Managing is more of an art, where your skills and relationships translate into a great creation.

Managing a small business is not just about dealing with numbers. You have to realize that a business is composed of people and that you have to deal with these people in different ways. In a small organization, management still involves influencing and motivating people to accomplish your goals as a company. Even without employees, managing such a business is still an art focused on people. After all, you need customers, right? When you managing it correctly, you’ll be able to shape your company in such a way that it provides what your customers need while achieving your own profitability goals.

The art of managing also requires you to have a lot of creativity. The most successful people in the field are the innovators – people who have thought outside the box and provided people with new ways to lead their lives. Most of them start small. A great thing about managing is the fact that the results of your hard work can be immediately seen. You’ll realize quickly when you’ve done a good job because your business will be doing great. Remember, however, that how you accomplish results matters just as much as the results themselves. Make sure to listen to people and you’ll do great.
